The N8 would be the final class of cabin cars built by the Pennsylvania. Easily distinguished by their streamlined cupola and large end "porches", the N8s served all parts of the system from 1951 through Penn Central and Conrail. Although they were the youngest of the PRR cabins inherited by Conrail, they were nearly as old as the oldest from the New York Central. Consequently, the N8 numbers thinned quickly at the end. A handful were sold to the Illinois Central Gulf and many others survive today in parks, museums, and short lines. New to Lionel, the N8 is a much-needed car on any PRR roster. Perfect behind steam, diesel, or electric power, as their most modern cabins these cars were preferred by crews. The models feature detailed interiors with figures and LED illuminated interior and marker lamps.
